Ghana High Commission Opens Book of Condolence to Honour the Eight Officials killed in Helicopter Crash

The Ghana High Commission in Malta opened a Book of Condolence from 8th to 12th August 2025 in honour of eight senior Ghanaian Government officials including the Honourable Minister for Defense, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and the Honorable Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed (MP) who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash on 6th August,2025.

The opening of the Book of Condolence provided an opportunity for the Maltese Government, the diplomatic community, and international organizations accredited to Malta to express their sympathy and solidarity with the Government and people of Ghana during this period of national mourning.

The Book of Condolence was formally opened with entries made by Mrs. Henrietta Addobea Tetteh, Chargé d’ Affaires on behalf of the Staff of the Ghana High Commission. The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta, Mr Cristopher Cutajar, also signed on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Malta.  Among the prominent personalities who were at the High Commission to sign the Book of Condolence was His Excellency Dr. George Vella, Emeritus of the Republic of Malta. Their presence underscored the warm relations and mutual respect between Ghana and Malta.

Members of the Diplomatic Community, International Organisations accredited to the Republic of Malta and the Ghana Association, Malta, also signed the Condolence Book and sent messages of sympathy. These heartfelt tributes conveyed deep sorrow over the loss and reaffirmed the shared values of friendship, compassion, and international solidarity.
